- Does the software require any extra DLL libraries, database interfaces, etc?
All required files are provided in installation package. Some optional modules may have extra requirements - see their descriptions. The software neither copy nor replace any of the system files.
- How much disk space do I need for storing daily reports and statistics?
Both reports and statistics are based on the same event logs that are placed in Reports directory. The logs are very compact - for example in a very popular cyber cafe with 25 workstations Reports directory grows by about 500 kB a month.
- What is the real memory usage of CafeAgent?
CafeAgent program needs only about 1MB of extended memory.
- What operating system does program require?
Both CafeAgent and CafeStation will work on the most popular Microsoft systems: Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows Millenium, Windows XP and Windows 2003.
- What are the system requirements of CafeSuite?
Minimal. For CafeAgent even the oldest Pentium 60 with 16 MB RAM will work perfectly on Windows 9x. If you managed to install newer operating system, you can be sure that it will also run. CafeStation will work fine on any Pentium with at least 32 MB RAM. The software also needs TCP/IP protocol to be installed.
- Will Cafe Agent work on wireless networks?
Yes, provided that TCP/IP protocol is installed.
- I want to use imacs in my internet cafe; can i still use your program?
Yes, but these workstations cannot be controlled by CafeAgent. I'm planning a separate versions of CafeAgent for Macintosh computers and also for linux.
- Do I need a server to run this or can it just run on a network?
All you need is a separate computer for the operator where the main program (CafeStation) will be installed. Of course this computer can also act as server or internet gateway.
- Do I need a dedicated server? Or I can use the server to browse the internet?
You can browse internet, chat or play games and CafeStation will just run in background.
- Does it work on linux based internet server? Can I use a Linux PC acting as proxy and as a default gateway to the internet?
The software is designed to work on any MS Windows operating system. Of course you can use it with linux server, but you should also have a workstation with Windows for running CafeStation. Alternatively you can also try running CafeStation on WINE emulator under linux - it's available at www.winehq.com
- Do I need a router, dns, radius servers to setup Cafesuite?
No, none of these is necessary. |
